Senior Analyst -Research, Innovative Programmes and Evaluation

The ideal candidate should have an excellent academic background and project experience in qualitative/quantitative methodologies and data processing using statistical tools and software. He/she should have the ability to process and analyse large data sets, to validate the hypothesis, converting data into usable information and link field evidence with reports. The candidate should have excellent report writing, documentation, analytical and interpersonal skills.

MicroSave’s Research Technical Working Group is a team of experts, who have extensive experience in designing, implementing, and conducting quantitative and qualitative research activities across the globe and on diverse subjects. we are looking for someone who has project experience in qualitative/quantitative methodologies and data processing using statistical tools and software. 

 

Responsibilities

  • As part of QME team, undertake analysis of data sets either alone or in teams to synthesize findings for consumption of both internal and external audience

  • Participate in design and implementation of research assignments including adherence to quality assurance protocols across various geographies.

  • Define and develop research frameworks, indicators, data needs and sources and reporting formats for effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting progress of the work undertaken by the in-house teams of other verticals.

  • Lead and manage project assignments as per established protocols

  • Work with different teams in the organisation, within and outside India, with occasional travel to project locations.

  • Develop and manage monitoring frameworks and provide guidance to other team members.

  • Support the Practice Group lead in developing knowledge resources through identifying key issues, lessons learned and best practices in programmes and projects undertaken with different clients and in different geographies.

  • Support the Practice Group Lead in identifying sector-specific issues and documentation of policy briefs and research papers

  • Work closely with the Practice Group Leader and the Domain leader in assessing the landscape and identifying and following up on prospective business opportunities
     

Qualifications and Competencies

Academic/ professional qualifications

 

  • Master level degree in Social Sciences/Economics/Statistics (Essential) and/or Business Management

  • Other relevant qualifications related to big data, data management, data mining, statistical analysis


Experience

  • At least 6-8 years of experience in managing primary data collection, data analysis and client handling

  • Theoretical grounding on Monitoring and Evaluation concepts

  • Experience in handling large-scale projects involving primary data collection

  • Knowledge of qualitative data collection methods and analysis will be an added advantage

  • Knowledge and experience in Big Data will be an asset
     

Skills and competencies

  • Thorough understanding of concepts such as types of evaluation designs, theory based evaluation, results framework etc.
     
  • Excellent command over statistical data analysis tools such as STATA, SPSS
     
  • Good knowledge of SAS, R, eviews etc.
     
  • Knowledge of advanced analysis methods such linear and multivariate regression, ANOVA, data modelling etc.
     
  • At least 4-5 years of extensive experience in designing and managing large-scale, multi-geography primary data collection exercises entailing evaluations and impact assessments 
     
  • Experience of working with donor organisations such as The World Bank, UNDP, ADB, DFID, The Gates Foundation etc.
     
  • Experience of developing proposals and concept notes 
     
  • Understanding of concepts of inclusive finance and financial inclusion will be desirable
     
  • Familiarity with large secondary sources such as Findex, FII, NSSO, Census
