Candidates should have 3-7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications with strong interpersonal skills to engage productively with all levels to influence, persuade and negotiate– ideally in the development or financial services sector with a strong command over writing and presentation skills.

The Manager – Global Insights spearheads MicroSave’s marketing and communication in the US and Canada. He/ she will:
  • Represent MicroSave in the United States (particularly the north east) and Canada – including making presentations at workshops/conferences
  • Liaison with /marketing to:

a) World Bank Group, USAID and other donor agencies;
b) Foundations including Gates, MetLife, JP Morgan, Citi etc.;
c) Think tanks and academic institutions;
d) Consulting companies and international NGOs and
e) Other key stakeholders promoting financial inclusion, DFS+ and development

  • Review key reports from the MicroSave offices across Asia/Africa to build knowledge 
  • Visit MicroSave offices and participate in key projects for ground knowledge (for 2-3 months a year)

Responsibilities:
  • Learn about MicroSave’s work by:

a) Spending 2-3 months a year working with our teams in the field implementing projects to gain on-the-ground experience and practical examples / knowledge;
b) Review/edit key reports so that he/she has an on-going overview of the outputs/lessons from MicroSave’s key projects

  • Work with our Knowldege Management and Marketing team to package and disseminate information to key stakeholders through social media as well as physical media (where appropriate)
  • Build contacts and networks in the key agencies/stakeholders involved with MicroSave’s work on financial inclusion, digital financial services + and development including:

a) World Bank Group, USAID and other donor agencies;
b) Foundations including Gates, MetLife, JP Morgan, Citi etc.;
c) Think tanks and academic institutions;
d) Consulting companies and international NGOs and
e) Other key stakeholders

  • Attend conferences and workshops to present and represent MicroSave and promulgate our work and point of view
  • Develop and sell ideas for projects and collaboration with the key agencies/stakeholders above.

Qualifications and Competencies
 
Academic/ professional qualifications:
Graduate degree in marketing and communications.

Experience:
  • 3 - 7  years progressive experience in marketing and communications – ideally in the development or financial services sector including on: 

- Networking
- Writing
- Presenting
- Persuading

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage productively with all levels to influence, persuade and negotiate
  • Experience of working in developing countries and some familiarity with MicroSave’s core work areas, especially the digital finance space would be preferred.

Requirements:
  • Exceptional ability to write and review technical papers
  • Experience of marketing and communicating complex ideas
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present technical ideas and hold a room
  • Ability to build and engage actively with large network of diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to sell ideas (and ideally projects/proposals) and to influence and persuade multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise, plan in advance and multi-task
  • A self-starter with an ability to work under tight deadlines and delivering quality product
  • Demonstrated experience of operating in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-country environment
  • Demonstrated “presence” and sophisticated and self-assured presentation of self
